I remember so well the excursion Angela and I made to Western Mongolia in the summer of 2002 when she came to stay with me while I was working in Ulaanbaatar as a VSO volunteer. Angela loved the vastness and, of course, the geographical uniqueness of the landscape. In recent years I have enjoyed many conversations with Angela over a pub lunch when I visited her at the White House.
